June Day 10!

Paint Your Pet

Today’s prompt is inspired by two things, my 100 day project and a whimsical memory. First the memory. My daughter notices dogs no matter where we go, and because of that we always see dogs when we’re together. We usually pick a “favorite” from the day. So far one of my all-time favorites was a white poodle who had been dyed bright neon pink. She was sporting her various shades of pink with pride. I loved it! (I’m sure it has nothing to do with my purple hair.)

My second inspiration is this year’s 100 Day Project. Some of you may have noticed that Tami and I are both participating in the 100 Day Project. (If you don’t already follow her, you should check out Tami’s Instagram to see her project. You’ll be inspired by her quotes each day!)

I’m working on one hundred days of drawing Beamer, our rescue pup. In addition to being a lot of fun, it’s been a great learning tool. My drawing skills have definitely improved and I’m experiencing the vulnerability of sharing something new. I believe that making ourselves open to “new” helps us keep a growth mindset. In addition, sharing while learning has been difficult. It stretched me out of my comfort zone and I believe that’s a good thing.

Today you get to choose. Will you literally “paint your pet?” or will you draw, doodle, paint or photograph your pet? If you don’t have a pet, you’re welcome to borrow mine. 😉

Thank you to everyone who’s joined this month’s mini art challenge. We hope you’ll join us in July. Somehow I imagine the word “sizzling” will be involved.
