Day 2: Polka Dots – Inspired by Yayoi Kusama
“Our earth is only one polka dot among a million stars in the cosmos. Polka dots are a way to infinity”
Yayoi Kusama
I’ve been dreaming of seeing the Infinity Mirrors Exhibit for over a year and this month I was able to see Kusama’s work at the High Museum in Atlanta. It was a visual feast of polka dots! And as my artist friends have said, “Lynne, you certainly like your circles.”
Circles are important to me. They have so much symbolism throughout history and throughout our lives. Circles of women, family circles, calling circles in emergencies, circles gathered to celebrate and to mourn.
Infinity Mirrors did not disappoint. I’m inspired to use circles and polka dots in a more mindful way.
I look forward to seeing what you create today as you incorporate polka dots in your work. Don’t forget to see what Tami has to say about today’s prompt! Find her on Facebook to see her response.
